In a Greek place and time, in a small village (Achladokambos) 479 meters towards the top of Mount Artemisio of Argolis Peloponnesos, my mother gathered olives from trees bearing bright fruit and firewood for the hearth. I similarly follow, but in a strange and foreign land.
I begin twisting and coiling strips of paper into a shape which I refer to as the wrapping. The wrapping serves as the core from which the sculpture (cover) emerges with the layers of covers satisfying the wrapping's need for concealment (protection). The sculptures are made almost entirely of construction materials and debris (predominately, wood lath) gathered from dumpsters throughout Brooklyn and abandoned houses in Detroit. I begin constructing a wooden base to support a plywood surface for paintings of divided lines and of original verse. Each painting is accompanied by a carefully selected sculpture. The poetry ΜΗΝΙΝ ΑΕΙΔΕ ΘΕΑ - MENIN AEIDE THEA draws from the literary and historical Greece, including the ancient and contemporary practice of ΠΑΙΔΟΜΑΖΩΜΑ PAIDOMAZOMA— violence brought against women and children by a monster-beast ΘΗΡΙΟΝ more complicated and savage than ΤYPHONOS, the POLIS-STATE. I begin twisting and coiling strips of paper into a shape which I refer to as the wrapping. The wrapping serves as the core from which the sculpture (cover) emerges with the layers of covers satisfying the wrapping's need for concealment (deception)?
I begin searching, finding and gathering passages of ancient Greek texts. Each sculpture is accompanied by a carefully selected passage. My research interests range broadly over cosmology, Greek literature and philosophy of the 7th, 5th, and 4th c. BCE from Homer and Attic tragedy to Plato, Socrates and Yoryias.
This website has been a long time (2010-2026) in the making ... restrained within custody, all alone of not this world oscillating strings tears blood pharmaki, the soul of the much suffering, mother.

MEMORY MUST NOW TURN TO JUSTICE AND POETRY
In a Greek place and time, in a small village located 479 meters towards the top of Mount Artemisio, Achladoκamboς Argoliς Peloponnesoς, and where the first πολεμος battle took place in 669 BCE, according to Pausaniaς ... faced the force βια, the force EYE faced, ringing in my EAR— a monster-beast ΘΗΡΙΟΝ more complicated and savage than TYPHONOS —in his fury der Fuhrer's roaring soaring hand the smoking barrel of a shining pistol pointed squarely. She stood her ground. She did not comply. The luck of the draw? The power of persuasion? The drawing of straws? The 'sharp-eyed courage?'

his anger, struck her with fear. Her heart foresaw the danger. She made her escape, in her makeshift raft, right before Dawn's eerily light, sent into the night, chasing asylum, the much-hated, death spirit. High on top of a wave, the much-hated, death spirit, a beast more savage and complicated than TYPHONOS, spun the raft in circles. The much suffering, mother's makeshift raft, slammed into the jagged rock, shark-teeth, cliff's. The raft's timbers scattered. The much suffering, mother clinging to the jagged rock, shark-teeth, cliff's, as she watched her daughter being tossed about by the violent sea and against much-hated, death's end. The North Wind pushed, and the tossing water swept over the flailing child who was gasping for breath. The daughter of Kadmos, Ino, called Leukothea, took pity. The goddess, the daughter of Kadmos, likening herself to a winged gannet, perched herself on the jagged rock, shark teeth, cliff's. The goddess spoke to the much suffering, mother, as a mortal. The goddess told the much suffering, mother, that no ill-fate had sent her to travel this way. For an artist, it was proper for her to SUFFER παθος μαθος and LEARN (AGAMEMNON 250, AESCHYLUS) all things RIGHT of JUSTICE, TRUTH, and of the opinions of mortals, in which there is no true reliance (PARMENIDES 288.28). The goddess handed the much suffering, mother, her iridescent silver veil. The veil was loveliest in design. The veil shown like a star. (Theona of the fair cheeks, daughter of Kisseus, and wife of Antenor, greater of horses, laid along the knees of Athena a robe with the same design ... Pallas turned her head from her) (ILIAD 6.296-300). Leukothea told the much suffering, mother to wrap the shimmering veil around her bleeding wrist. Upon reaching shore, she was to unwrap the shimmering veil, throw it back into the sea, and not look back. The much suffering, mother looked back. She wrapped the blood-stained, shimmering veil around her bleeding heart (ODYSSEY 5.333-350)
the much suffering, mother watched as the child's corpse was pounded by the surf, carried up and down the heaving swell of the sea, unburied, unmourned, for three long days and nights. The grotesque corpse washing up on shore, face-up, disembodied now, asking of the gods to find her much suffering, mother, and be buried by her hands. The gods granting her request. A much suffering, mother, now stumbling. searching, finding her much suffering, daughter, the grotesque corpse bloated face-up. (Hecuba 35-58).
the much suffering, mother, bloody wrists raised, now begging Apollo to pay the much-hated death spirit, a beast more complicated and savage than TYPHONOS, the POLIS-STATE, for her tears δακρυα shed, with his arrows and a foul pestilence (ILIAD 1.53). The much suffering, mother leaned her body against the ground and with both hands beat the ground, now begging Gaia to put into her bloody hands the long shark-jagged tooth καρχαροδοντα sickle (THEOGONY 173) for to guard against mens' tempers and rage ... impious beasts monstrous and profane (SUPPLIANTS 762-763). The much suffering, mother collapsing over her daughter's grotesque and bloated body, cries high and shrill, gasping for breath, cheeks wracked with pitiful weeping while the men behind her, hitting her with their AK-47 rifles on her back and shoulders, forcing her up, dragging her away, shackled and chained, into slavery, unable to turn, powerless and forced, forced labor, no pay, hard work, worn with hunger of starvation, stale bread placed within reach with only enough to clear the POLIS-STATE of negligence and wrongful death, strip searched, POLIS-STATE garment stiff sodden with tears stenciled number no name. Such were the pitiful tears of the much suffering, mother shed from under her brows. But Altkinoos alone, understood (ODYSSEY 5.523-533).
